Description:The aim of this webinar is to have an overview of the most advanced CivilFEM capabilities for the Nuclear Industry running on a Containing building modelled with solid elements in ANSYS MAPDL. CivilFEM is civil/structural plug-in for ANSYS MAPDL with more than 400 extra capabilities to the GUI and new commands for the analysis and design of any type of civil engineering structure and with a specific module for the design or re-evaluation of new and existing Nuclear Power Plants. The unique capabilities of CivilFEM for NPP include checking and design of ANSYS models by Nuclear Codes and Standards, Prestressed Concrete, Seismic Margin Assessment and many other tools for NPP design.
The advanced Prestressed Concrete Capabilities of CivilFEM will be used to automatically generate the tendons, calculate long and short-term losses and apply equivalent loads to the ANSYS model. CivilFEM tendon layout can be defined by points or using ANSYS lines and curves. CivilFEM can generate any type of tendons including hoop, vertical, circumferential, J and ∩ tendons. Then, short and long-term losses are automatically calculated and equivalent forces are transfered to beam, shell and solid element models.
Solid element results are displacements and stresses but Codes and Standards design are based on forces and moments, therefore beam or shell models are needed. CivilFEM can integrate stresses in solid element models (as in the containing building model that will be shown), obtain forces and moments and then design solid elements models under the most important International Codes and Standards (EC2, ACI 318, AASHTO, SP 52/1001/2004, BS8110, GB50010/GB50017, NBR6118, IS456…) and Nuclear Codes (ACI 349, ACI/ASME 359, ANSI AISC N690 -LRFD and ASD, AISC ASD 9th Edition) to calculate the required reinforcement demand under axial forces, bending moments, and In-Plane and Out-Of-Plane shear loads will be detailed for ULS and crack checking for SLS combinations.
Moreover, for existing NPP, CivilFEM can perform a Seismic Margin Assessment and calculate the HCLPF coefficient (EPRI-NP6041-Rev1) for concrete and steel structures.
And finally, CivilFEM APPs for Workbench will be shown with a NPP Containing building modelled with shell elements. .
CivilFEM is in conformity with the strict quality guidelines in the nuclear sector, such as the standards of the American Nuclear Regulatory Commission NRC 10 CFR 21 and NRC 10 CFR 50 App. B or ASME NQA 1:2000.
