CFD Aerodynamic study of a drone aircraft

This report comprises the study of an aircraft through CFD (computer fluid dynamics) using the XFLOW software (mesh-less particle model), with the purpose of analyzing the aerodynamic characteristics, the behavior with respect to its operating life and the subsequent study of possible improvements or aircraft layout at a later stage.

 

The optimal angle of stabilization that determines the aircraft’s maximum velocity as well as the DRAG, LIFT and PITCH coefficients were obtained.      

The simulation was conducted through a tridimensional external flow model. For the fluid domain simulation, a virtual wind tunnel was used such that the dimensions and the position of the aircraft inside it are free from interferences in terms of the results obtained.

The refining of the lattice applied to the model has been applied through a refining algorithm that allows refining in zones near to the desired areas of the model and the trail.
